The City League Enschede 2011 will be held at the sportspark of V.V. Rigtersbleek. (not the "korfbal" but the football entrance) The dates are 1, 8 and 15th of June games start at 19.00h.
Net als voorgaande jaren organiseert de Ultimate Frisbee vereniging van Enschede, Disc Devils Twente (DDT), weer een City League. Dit is een instap-tournooi in de mooie sport Ultimate Frisbee. Je bent hier van harte welkom om met een team of inividueel aan mee te doen. Ervaring is niet nodig, er zullen nog veel meer mensen zijn die niet weten wat de boven- en wat de onderkant van een frisbee is ;-)
Als je je inschrijft via de website, en geen team hebt, wordt je ingedeeld bij een team dat nog wel een extra paar handen en voeten kan gebruiken. Een team bestaat uit minimaal 5 personen, want we spelen 5 tegen 5. Het is wel fijn om in ieder geval 7 mensen in je team te hebben, zodat je ook nog een beetje kunt doorwisselen en daarmee wat rust krijgt. Elk team zal in ieder geval één ervaren speler hebben die aanwijzingen kan geven. Mocht je zelf geen ervaren speler hebben, dan krijg je er eentje toegewezen van de organisatie.
Het programma is als volgt: op vrijdag 20 mei is er een open training voor iedereen die er behoefte aan heeft wat werp- en vangtechnieken te leren. Hier zullen we ook de basis spelregels doornemen. Het is om 18.00 uur, in het Van Heekpark (klik). De training is niet verplicht en je kan dus ook gewoon met de City League meedoen zonder de training te hebben gevolgd. De training is gratis. Let op: deze training is in een openbaar park, waar dus geen kleedkamers zijn, en ook geen waterkraan. Je zult je dus ergens anders moeten omkleden en zelf een waterflesje mee moeten nemen. Dat laatste is wel handig; je gaat zeker water nodig hebben.
op woensdagen 1, 8 en 15 juni is het City League tournooi. Dit zal plaastvinden op het verre veld van de Universiteit Twente (klik). Het begint om 19.00uur, de 1e en 8e juni, en om 19.30 uur de 15e juni. De kosten zijn 10 euro per persoon. Hiervoor krijg je een officiele wedstrijd frisbee en na afloop van de avonden krijg je ook een gratis drankje. (Waarschijnlijk overbodig te zeggen, deze sportvelden hebben wel kleedkamers en sanitaire faciliteiten)
Er zijn 2 manieren om te winnen bij Ultimate Frisbee: 1) win de meeste wedstrijden, kom in de finale en win de finale-wedstrijd 2) heb de hoogste "spirit score". Dit krijg je door vriendelijk en eerlijk met je tegenstander om te gaan, zelf vrolijkheid en gezelligheid uit te dragen, zelfs als je verliest.

De belangrijkste regels en uitzonderingen op de officiële regels, in het kort: -we spelen Ultimate, 5 tegen 5 -stall-count is 10 (!) -we spelen over de breedte van een voetbalveld -Ultimate Frisbee is een non-contact sport, je mag elkaar dus (in principe) niet aanraken -wedstrijden duren 20 minuten, tussendoor is 10 minuten rust -er is geen maximum aan de hoeveelheid plezier die je mag beleven.

Just like last years, the Ultimate Frisbee club of Enschede, Disc Devils Twente (DDT), organizes a City League. This is a intro-tournament into the beautiful sport of Ultimate Frisbee. You're more than welcome to join, with a team or individually. You don't need any experience; there will be more people who don't know which side of the frisbee is up ;-)
If you subscribe through the website, and you don't have a team, than you'll be put in a team that can use an extra pair of hands and feet. A team consists of at least 5 people, since we play 5 aside. It's recommanded however to have at least 7 people in your team, so you can change players in between and get some rest. Each team will have at least one experienced player. If you don't have one, the organisation will appoint you an experienced player.
The program is as follows: On Friday the 20th of May there is an open training for anyone who wants to get some tips on how to catch and throw a frisbee. Here we will also adress the basic rules of the game. It will be from 18.00h, in the Van Heekpark (click). The training is not obligated and you can also just join the City League without having trained. This training is free of charge. Note though, that this training is in a public park, so there will not be any changing facilities, or tap-water for that matter. So you'll need to change somewhere else, and please take your own bottle of water with you.
On Wednesdays 1st, 8th and 15 of June, the City League tournament is taking place. It will be held at the far field of the Universiteit Twente (klik). It starts at 19.00h on the 1st and 8th, and at 19.30 on the 15th. The costs are 10 euro per person. For this you'll recieve an official game disc and after the matches, you'll get a free drink. (Probably needless to say, these sport fields do have changing rooms and restroom facilities)
There are 2 ways to win in Ultimate Frisbee: 1) win the most games, get into the finals and win this last match 2) get the highest "spirit score". You can get a high spirit score by being friendly and honest towards your opponents, be happy and joyfull, even if you're losing.
The most important rules, and exceptions to the rules are: -we play Ultimate, 5 aside -stall-count is 10 (!) -we play on the width of a football field -Ultimate Frisbee is a non-contact sport, so you are (basically) not allowed to touch each other -games take 20 minutes, with 10 minutes rest in between -once 20 minutes are up, you finish the last point -there is no maximum amount of fun that you're allowed to have!

final update 24 June 2009: Today we had the last from the three evenings of Ultimate frisbee. It was again a great evening, with exiting games. Jalapenos was positioned well to get to the top of the list, but the Draaiende Duiveltjes were really on a roll: they won all their games and finished first! X-Sens took the spirit prize home. Thanks for making the 3rd City League in Enschede a success. For people who would like to try some more Ultimate Frisbee: DDT has their summer training sessions on Tuesday, 19.30h in the GJ van Heekpark in Enschede.

Ultimate frisbee in Enschede - City League!!
De frisbee vereniging Disc Devils Twente (DDT) uit Enschede organiseert voor het derde jaar op rij de City League. De City League wordt gehouden op 3 woendagavonden: 10, 17 en 24 Juni, 19.30 - 21.30h. Locatie is het sportpark Rigtersbleek, GJ. van Heekstraat 15. Iedereen is welkom; veel, weinig of geen ervaring. Het maakt niet uit. Kosten voor deze drie avonden samen zijn 10 euro. Hiervoor krijg je een wedstrijdschijf, drie avonden frisbeeplezier, lidmaatschap van de NFB (Nederlandse Frisbee Bond) voor 2009 en de mogelijkheid om je conditie te verbeteren. Wanneer je al NFB lid bent, zijn de kosten 2,50 euro. Er wordt 5 tegen 5 gespeeld, het is makkelijk om 1 of 2 wissels per team te hebben. Het veld waarop wordt gespeeld is 35m lang. Schrijf je in door op de link "Inschrijven als speler" te klikken.
Wat is Ultimate Frisbee? Dit is een snelle, spectaculaire teamsport waarbij je moet rennen, gooien, springen en vangen. Het spel wordt met mix teams gespeeld; fair play is erg belangrijk bij Ultimate Frisbee.

Ultimate frisbee in Enschede - City League!!
The frisbee team Disc Devils Twente (DDT) from Enschede organizes for the third time in a row the City Leauge. The City League takes place during three Wednesdays on 10th, 17th and 24th of June, 19.30 - 21.30h. Location is the sportpark Rigtersbleek, GJ. van Heekstraat 15. Everybody can join; a lot, hardly any or no experience. It doesn't matter. Costst for these three evenings are 10 euro. For this you will get a game disc, three evenings of frisbee fun, 2009 membership of the NFB (Dutch Frisbee Association) and the possibility to improve your condition.
